Blog Journal 6

I think Diigo has been a little bit confusing for me because I am not super tech-savvy. I like that we are shown examples in class because the examples help guide me through how to post on Diigo. As I've gotten more comfortable with it, I've seen that the features Diigo allows are very helpful in picking out things that are important in the articles we choose. Being able to annotate the website and leave sticky notes without having to necessarily leave the website has been helpful, and it makes the assignments much easier. I like that I am able to see what my peers are saying about the tools and websites they have chosen without having to go through and read the article because we are able to use the highlight and annotate features.

So far, I have enjoyed blogging. I like that I am about to explain some of the things we have learned in class, and it helps me to better understand the concepts. I've learned some interesting tools through blogging, like how to create hyperlinks and have the hyperlinks open into a new tab. There has not been anything that I haven't liked about blogging. Another reason I enjoy doing the blog posts is because I am able to read my peers' blogs and see how they are learning and interpreting concepts we learned in class. Overall, I think blogging has been an effective learning tool, and use of reflection, in this class.

An interesting Web 2.0 tool that I might use while teaching is a website called, "Cool Math Games." I used this website as a student when I was younger, and I think that it is a great tool for teachers to use for their math classes. The website features many different math games, at all different levels and grade levels. The website has been updated in 2022, so the information seems to be up-to-date. It is very easy to navigate, and you can even choose which level of math that you want to find games for. The games are fun enough for students to want to play outside of school, and it is a good tool to use during class so teachers can help as students play and learn.

  1. Blogging has been helping me better grasp the concepts from class as well. It really does help being able to reiterate what I’ve learned and how I’m using it to complete certain tasks and start to think about how I’ll use technology in my classrooms in the future.

  2. Hey Naomi!

I too liked being able to easily annotate and leave sticky notes that my classmates could see through Diigo. It seemed like a good resource for group projects, however it takes some time to figure out for sure. I love that you talked about coolmath games! This was a resource my old students loved! They would get so excited to find new math games from this website.

Hope you have a wonderful week
